Keynote speaker: Adam MontriThe keynote speaker for the 2023 Great Plains Growers Conference is Adam Montri, who along with his wife Dru, owns Ten Hens Farms in Bath, Michigan. The farm was founded in 2008 and now contains three acres of outdoor production during the traditional Midwest growing season and 20,000 square feet of high tunnel space. Their produce is sold through one farmers market, a weekly Farm Box/CSA program, an area Food Hub, restaurants, and through an on-farm stand.
Adam holds a BA in English from Michigan State University (MSU) and an MS in Horticulture from Penn State (PSU), while Dru holds both a BS and PhD in Horticulture from MSU and an MS in Horticulture from PSU. They both worked on a number of different farms throughout the US before starting Ten Hens. Adam worked as the High Tunnel Outreach Specialist in MSU’s Department of Horticulture from 2007-2017. When not farming, he spends his time playing and coaching soccer, writing poetry, and teaching poetry workshops in K-12 schools. |
